You do yourself a disservice Paul- I wouldn’t say luck.
When I sold as posted here to be out before the RNS, based of “known info” and I rarely stay in before scheduled RNS, I posted my buy back in on the 123’s and my rationale for doing so.
These sort of strategies don’t work every time of course, but based on probability, works more than it doesn’t and pushing the odds of profit higher.
Play the markets as they work, not how you want them the work :-).
So what is your opinion of that ,not surprising news ?
Late on Saturday 16 March 2024, Niger’s military junta announced that it has ended an accord with the US that allowed military personnel and civilian staff from the US Department of Defense to operate in Niger. This announcement came days after Niger held high-level talks with US diplomatic and military officials last week.

The US risks losing its military presence in another African country as the government of Chad sent a letter threatening to end a critical security agreement, according to four US sources, a move that threatens to cede more US influence in the region to Russia.

The US built a military base in Niger to combat armed groups that pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda and ISIL (ISIS) in the Sahel region, which also includes Burkina Faso and Mali.
The United States will withdraw its soldiers from Niger as the West African nation is increasingly turning to Russia and away from Western powers.
The US Department of State agreed to pull out about 1,000 troops from the country that has been under military rule since July 2023, US media reported late on Friday.

Pure luck. I wish I had the nuts and the money to do it with more-----That would have been a nice pick up. It made up for selling some here twice and having to buy back in 3 or 4p higher. With the amounts I've traded, I probably need a near 2p change here or (because of the tax) a near 8p change on the post office shares, to make more on the deal than Hargreaves Lansdown. I'm still down overall on the post office but managed to reduce my average a bit. It hurts when you don't get a dividend or only a low one like here. I know you can sell shares if the price goes up, but a nice (genuine and not like happened with the previous lot in charge at Centamin) dividend helps most of us along.
I really am hoping that gold stays near these levels and Centamin reach targets and then we start getting a nice dividend,
The relationship between Iran and Niger will be one to watch .... in terms of Uranium sourcing. The US were kicked out of Niger in last few days ...
good luck to us all

We just get better at managing this in-built trait, and the consequences of this.

The US television premiere of Peter Watkins' film "The
War Game," a graphic portrayal of what would happen in the event
of a nuclear attack on Great Britain. The movie was so powerful
and realistic that the BBC banned it from TV despite the fact
that the film had been commissioned by the BBC and had won an
Academy Award in l966 for best documentary. Although it has been
shown in a few movie theatres in the US, it has not been
presented on TV. "The War Game" is shocking, but is not
sensationalized. It was carefully researched and based on actual
events which occurred in World War II during and after the mass
Allied raids on Germany and the atomic bombings of Japan.

Rather sobering, even depressing but all too often what are perceived as local conflicts in other parts of the world can lead to war on a much larger scale!
Some Local government officer were obligated to attend numerous government trainng courses on how central government imagined that local government would administer and run the areas of the UK that might have survived a nuclear strike.
Basically local government of surviving areas would be controlled and administered on order of seniority of surviving local government officers from blast proof bunkers, ours still remains now mothballed under a huge water company storage facility.
I thought these old public information films may be of interest to some, they were issued at a time when the UK/ USA governments were trying to downplay the effects of a nuclear strike.
Although made decades ago these films should be watched by every politician/leader the world over to demonstrate the stupidity of war and that once the nuclear button is pushed our the world and all living inhabitants are finished irrelevant of how much wealth and power they thought they had accumulated.

This black and white training film, made for the United Kingdom’s Civil Defence and Fire Service in 1956, provides a straight forward and unflinching look at the possible effects a hydrogen bomb would have on a major city in that country. Using World War II era footage of rescue work in the aftermath of German air attacks, animations, scale models, and sombre narration,

Gold’s ‘real’ all-time high
While addressing the economy, Tiggre pointed out the misleading nature of nominal highs when discussing gold prices.
With inflation adjustments, he argued, gold’s true value is considerably higher: "One, it's not an all-time high. It's a nominal high. If inflation adjusts, even using the government's nonsense, CPI numbers and real all-time high would be over $3,400 or $3,500."

Iran's senior military commander had already issued a statement stating that over 50% of the drones used in the attack on Israel were old technology and basically a way of making a point and that as far as Iran was concerned the matter was closed unless Israel made another attack in which case the next response would be far more serious using the latest drones.
So we shall have to wait and see but it seems that Benjamin Netanyahu and his bunch of cabinet Zionists are intent on starting a regional conflict which the Yanks will likely get pulled into in some form or another!
I was hoping to get some more at 126.5 yesterday after I sold the post office ones I bought for 263 at 273, but the limit order didn't go through, so I tried again today. As It didn't look like going through I paid 127. 023. It is only a few compared to how a lot of people deal and HL probably made near as much as me :-( but i made enough yesterday to get me a few more shares here. I think I sold IDS at 278----bought here at 124 and then sold at 126 (so made nothing really) ,then bought IDS at 263 and sold at 273 ------then managed to get some more here at the 127. 023. Oh well--it's done now and at least I made a few quid for a change.
I put some onion seeds in the other day and some shallot seeds today, so fingers crossed. I've got a few different tomato seedlings going, some in the house and some under glass in a raised bed. On day I might get some luck in the garden and with Centamin
I hope everyone has a good weekend.
In the title.
Happy weekend all :-)
It could be Far from over... Is this attack by Israel its whole reaction or just a partial one and more to follow? Will the Iranian retaliate against the retaliation? And if they do, on a full scale or partial one?... There is a lot of talk about de-escalation - but none of it from the warring sides
Likely just the usual Friday afternoon Cey pull back!
Should be back up again on Monday!
I agree Mr Gnome , I very much doubt this is over and no wonder considering the continued of persecution and systematic genocide of innocent Palestinians by the Israeli government and now the refusal of America to allow Palestine full membership of the UN!

Mind you our stinking UK government and Switzerland's government abstained!
China is very big
A very clear statement indeed from the Egyptian officials "No power cuts where it matters!"
Certainly demonstrates the Egyptian governments priorities and just how much Sisi and the Egyptian bureaucracy cares about the welfare of it's ordinary people!
But then it's our Western Banks and governments gangster like tactics along with the USA of course that to a large extent to are to blame, no wonder there are revolutions!
Mr Tibbs
The entire issue is how one particular party rallied the gold price and ignored all other factors. It is not as if London, Shanghai and New York operated together to upgrade the gold price. It was only China. What may happen is that we see quite a drop in gold for two months and a gold rally over the whole summer unfolds where multiple parties work up prices together and physical jewellery buyers in June get a chance to re-stock on gold (which is often at the low of the year for gold). A rally has to be widely owned otherwise over time it will collapse as hardly anyone will make gold jewellery or sell gold coins and bars outside of China. Tony
