Guides FY-Dec in line but warns FY24 profit significantly below market expectations.
There should have been a nice gain from the sale of their
previous HQ.
HB have recently spent a lot of time, energy and money taking care of themselves with a new HQ in Sheffield. Now its job done, can they please get back to improving the value of the company and its SP?
Well, FP, I took a look at that chart and it seems to say that H B is sitting at the bottom, hopefully, of a very deep trough in that cycle with a current sp only slightly more than half of its maximum value over that period before taking into account the reduction in value due to inflation. So, it would seem to me that HB needs both a strong recovery in the economy combined with more effective company management to recover lost ground?
Because it's cyclical and profitability is largely tied to the
UK housing market and wider property market.
Take a look at a long term SP chart, a 30 year chart is available on
a quick web search.
Why has Henry Boot sp drifted down so much in the past two years? What chance of recovering lost ground?
As of Thursday, have we seen the SP cycle low, probably not,
but longer term hopefully not too shabby a price.
The unaudited interim results all sound good, yet net debt increases despite them flogging off land. Puts me off investing in this share.
As mentioned in a previous post, there seems to be a substantial decrease in profit per plot compared to just a few years ago. In terms of percentages, this drop appears to be highly significant. Could this be the reason for the lack of progress in the SP?

Well so starting move in the right direction now also UBS was commenting on house builders today and alittle snippet from them was UBS adds that the political backdrop remains challenging for the sector, with recent planning policies having the potential to drive up land prices. Now this will probably bode well for Boot and HwG good luck.
So what does a company have to do to get a decent SP rise when it releases its FY results?
By far my biggest holding I have share price far to low here and nav does not reflect true value here safe ish long term hold.
Well the sp not going anywhere but happy to add some more today.
Sale of plot in Milton Keynes to TW announced yesterday means strong start to 2023. Surprised sp did not respond accordingly ...
I’ve looked at Henry Boot on and off for a while. Your comment re Mr Gladman caught my eye when I returned for another look today. Thank you for that. Interesting.
Maybe but this has not stopped David John Gladman continuing to increase his stake in the business is it he sees good value here or has he other intentions. You can look him up it’s interesting he’s adding here I’ve also started adding here and at HWG.
Recession and housing market fears ..?
Err - read em and weep!
You will find out in tomorrows update
Boot looking useless
trading update on 16th, see what they say.
But you not said boot a buy either
This was highlighted by another poster, I made a comment on
that post and asked if anyone had an explanation for the
reduction in profit per plot seen over the last few years.
Land management is one part of the business, it's not
the entire company, but it is usually the most profitable.
This is a discussion board, I've not posted that BOOT is a Sell.
If this company as a large reduction in profit per plot why did it pay a dividend you got nothing better to do today them decamp this stock
