Kromek Wins US Defence Agency Contract Extension Worth USD1.6 Million

Mon, 12th Mar 2018 09:46

LONDON (Alliance News) - Kromek Group PLC said Monday it was granted an 18-month contract extension by a US defence agency worth USD1.6 million.

Kromek - which makes radiation detection technology - said the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency which is part of the Department of Defense had awarded the extension to a high-volume production contract initially awarded in February 2016.

The initial contract had seen 10,000 of its D3S units delivered. The new extended contract will add "further technical innovation capability" to its D3S family of equipment.

"Having our D3S detectors positioned as a central pillar in DARPA's SIGMA programme is a testament to the capabilities of our state-of-the art technology and the strength of our relationship with DARPA," Kromek Chief Executive Officer Arnab Basu said. "With field tests continuing in the US and across the globe, the D3S is gaining traction as an invaluable tool to help cities detect and counter the threat of dirty-bomb attacks."

Shares in Kromek were 0.6% higher at 22.13 pence on Monday.
