TOP NEWS: Ultra Electronics Wins Contract From UK Ministry Of Defence

Thu, 8th Jun 2017 07:41

LONDON (Alliance News) - Ultra Electronics Holdings PLC has won a USD10.0 million contract from the UK Ministry of Defence to produce two submarine acoustic devices for the Royal Navy.

FTSE 250-listed Ultra said on Thursday that its Ocean Systems business, which is based in the US, will produce two variants of its submarine countermeasure acoustic device, 101 and 102, for the Royal Navy's submarine fleet.

The 101 acoustic device is a self-contained externally mounted and launched torpedo countermeasure, while the 102 device has equivalent capability, but is launched internally from the submerged signal ejector.

The company said Massachusetts-based Ocean Systems has delivered over 20,000 countermeasure technology devices to date.

Ultra Chief Executive Rakesh Sharma said the contract win "reinforces Ultra's position as a leader in the underwater warfare environment through the provision of highly complex countermeasure capabilities to the US Navy, the UK Royal Navy and other international customers."
